UNDP is the UN's global development network, advocating for change and connecting countries to knowledge, experience and resources to help people build a better life. We are on the ground in 166 countries, working with them on their own solutions to global and national development challenges. 

UNDP's partnership with the Republic of Korea (ROK) can be traced back to 1953 (through UNDP's predecessor organizations). Since then and until 2000, UNDP provided some $100 million to ROK and played a crucial role in helping ROK achieve its development goals at different stages. For example, UNDP assistance focused on strengthening agricultural productivity, and providing basic health care and primary education in the 1960s-70s; establishing training institutes to meet the demand of skilled labour in the 1980s; and promoting sustainable human development (SHD), environment protection, gender equality and social security system in the 1990s... more
